Jurgen Klopp remains confident about Training
Jurgen Klopp remains confident that the week-long training camp in Tenerife will help the players rejuvenate for a great end to the campaign.
Liverpool’s aspirations of at least qualifying for the Europa League to a major blow after the 3-2 defeat against Southampton during the weekend. The defeat leaves Liverpool just three points above Chelsea, who have been in much better form since the turn of the year. Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring for the Reds before Daniel Sturridge made it a two-goal advantage inside 25 minutes. However, Liverpool were unable to sustain this good position throughout the 90 minutes.
Some impressive changes made by opposition manager Ronald Koeman meant that Liverpool found themselves 3-2 down going into the final 10 minutes. Even the introduction of Belgian international Christian Benteke did not help Liverpool get three points from this away trip. The league now goes on a holiday for two weeks due to the international break, with fans having to take advantage of entertainment offers Manchester instead. The club have tried to take advantage of this absence by going on a training camp in Tenerife. Klopp says that he is already seeing positive signs from his players after just a few days. The club return to action with a home game against title chasing Tottenham.
Klopp will want to cause a major upset in the title race by beating Spurs. “It’s going really well. We had 13 players plus two keepers training this morning, including a lot of young players. It was a good session. All the injured players have come away with us too and it’s nice to have them here. This is a really good training ground and the weather is a little bit better than in England! We’re having a good time. This is a good place for us to work this week. We’re working hard in the mornings and then in the afternoons it’s time with the families,” said Klopp.
