MADRID EYE MEGA MBAPPE AND HARLAND SWOOP
Real Madrid have decided to reshuffle their attacking line. The capital-based club has identified youngsters, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Harlaand as their top priority this summer. Madrid have struggled to dominate since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in 2018. Karim Benzema has stepped up but lacks the consistency of the Portugal international. The club has failed to lift any major silverware since Ronaldo left. The club is ready to address the situation as Mbappe and Harlaand are expected to make the switch to Madrid at the end of the season.
The deal to take Harlaand to Madrid will be complicated. The Norwegian joined Borussia Dortmund in January. He has made a good start to life in Germany, where he is expected to continue his development for another year at least before he makes the next move. Madrid understand the player’s situation and they are ready to wait for another year before signing him.
But the deal to bring Mbappe will be completed this summer. Madrid manager Zinidine Zidane has relied heavily on Benzema for goals in 2019/20 season. They have struggled when the Frenchman is not having his best days. Mbappe is considered to be the long-term replacement for Ronaldo and the solution to their failing attack.
According to a report from Spain, Los Blancos have eyes on French trio Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante and Mbappe, although their ability to formalize that interest could be compromised by the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on finances at most clubs around the world. But they are keen to make the deal for Mbappe possible. The club will wait before making other moves for Kante and Pogba.
